Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984, in New York City New York. She is an American singer/actress whose range has earned her recognition in a variety of genres - from thrillers and adventures to period films. Johansson was the daughter of an architect and producer, was brought up in New York City. Hunter Her twin brother and She were all the smallest of a family of four. When she was just seven an old, the actress started auditioning for television commercials. She joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly following and then was a student at the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to further her education. At age eight she appeared alongside Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry, and at nine she made her debut in film in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson subsequently appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) which was a film about abandoned sisters who escape. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played an teen with a defect because of an accident earned an acclaim from critics. After that, in Ghost World 2001 (as the teenager who is a cynical outcast Rebecca), Johansson gained the attention of a whole new generation. Similar to other novice actresses in her position the actress honed her talents in the theatre. She worked on various projects in the USA as she made her stage debut. She studied in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
